Sizing a shirt

Shirt neck Place the tape low on the neck where the shirt collar normally falls. Insert a finger behind the tape measure to insure proper ease.

Shirt sleeve length With the arms straight at the sides, measure from the middle of the back on the neck. Follow over the shoulders and elbows to about one inch past the wrist bone.

Sizing a coat

Height and weight From the top of the head to the floor (without shoes) is the correct height measurement. Most people know their height and weight, and both help determine coat size. Coat This measurement is taken with the tape measure well up under the arms, over the shoulder blades, and across the chest in front. Measurement should be taken without flexing. Coat sizes are 2" larger than chest size (example: 38 chest, 40 coat). Coat size should also be same as hip measurement. Coat Insleeve This measurement is taken directly from the coat itself. Measure from the cuff up to the underarm along the inseam. Most insleeves are standard, based on short, regular, long or extra-long, but please note any significant differences. Pant waist Place the tape measure directly over the shirt, just above the hip bone. Ask customer to adjust the waist to a comfortable position. Take larger than normal thighs into consideration. Outseam Place pant waist where it is comfortable. Extend the tape from the top of the pant line to the to top of the heal of the shoe.
